Short Getaway to Rameshwaram, Madurai & Kanyakumari
3N/4DMadurai (1N) - Rameshwaram (1N) - Kanyakumari (1N)

Rameswaram is a very beautiful town which lies on Pamban Island right in the heart of the southeast Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is home to the very sacred and very famous Ramanathaswamy Temple, a Hindu pilgrimage site known for its huge sculpted pillars and sacred water tanks.

Day 1
Arrival in MaduraiDedicated to Meenakshi and Sundareswarar, Meenakshi Amman Temple is a perfect example of stunning Dravidian architecture with gopurams and sculpted passageways. The temple is adorned with thousands of figures, depicting the stories from Indian mythology. Aayiram kaal Mandapam, Golden Lotus Tank and the Hall of Thousand Pillar are the highlights of the temple. According to legends, Meenakshi was born from a holy fire, as an answer to the prayers of King Malayadwaja and his wife. Later, she was married to Lord Shiva and together they ruled the city of Madurai as Lord Sundareshwar and Goddess Meenakshi. Also, it is respectful and polite to dress more conservatively on a tour to the temple.
Day 2
Madurai to RameshwaramSacred to Lord Shiva, revered Ramanathaswamy Temple is one of holiest sites for pilgrimage in India and a part of the Char Dham Yatra. According to legends, Lord Rama came to Rameswaram with Goddess Sita and worshipped Lord Shiva. Lord Hanuman went to Kailash Parvat to bring a lingam of Lord Shiva (presently installed in the temple). Inside the temple complex, there are lengthy 1000-pillar halls and 22 theerthams (temple tanks) where devotees bathe before visiting the deity. Architecturally magnificent, the temple features a high compound wall (madil) on four sides and Gopurams on the eastern and western sides. There's a dress code that needs to be followed while entering the temple. Male devotees can wear dhoti or full-pants and shirts. Female devotees can wear a sari or suit with dupatta. Also known as Panchamukha Anjaneya, the Panchamukhi Hanuman Temple is situated close to the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Hanuman revealed his five-faced avatar of Hanuman, Narasimha, Adivaraha, Hayagriva and Garuda to Lord Rama. The idol of the deity has been adorned with vermilion. Another major highlight of the temple is the floating stones that have been preserved by the temple. It is believed that these stones were used to build the bridge called Sethu Bandanam, which was used by Lord Rama to cross over to Lanka to rescue his wife Goddess Sita from the demon king Ravana. It is advised to dress modestly while visiting the temple.
Day 3
Rameshwaram to KanyakumariSri Kumariamman Temple Vivekananda Rock Memorial Around 500 meters away from the shores of Kanyakumari, Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the testimonial of great Indian architecture. It is the same hallowed ground where Vivekananda spend three night meditating before embarking on his journey to the US. The memorial is made on the same rock where Swami Vivekananda attained enlightenment. Thiruvalluvar Statue Adjacent to Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the dominating statue of the noted poet and philosopher - Thiruvalluvar. The memorial was built to honour the poet's collection of 1330 Tamil couplet, Thirukkural, which is why the overall height of the structure is 133 feet.
